The Porn Review Panel Grading System

At the Porn Review Panel, porn sites are graded with an A to F grading scale, with A being the best, and F being horrendously poor. We grade according to the following criteria:

Quality:

Visual quality of the content; whether it’s clear or grainy, well lit or poorly lit, and whether it’s of sufficient resolution and bitrate to give you that “I can almost smell the pussy”-experience. To get an A, a site would have to provide video in DVD quality or better, and/or large resolution pictures (1600x1200 or better).

Interface:

How convenient and surfer-friendly the site is. Nothing turns you off quicker than having to struggle with a poorly designed website just to get at your porn. Typical flaws that will give a site a low score are: content can only be accessed after repeated clicking through various menus; video scenes only available as small clips (who’d want to stop in the middle of a blowjob to switch clips?); non-downloadable videos; DRM-“protected” videos. Zipped, downloadable picture sets are good.

Hotness:

Whether our reviewers found the site a turn-on or not. (See below)

Quantity:

Is there enough content available at the site to justify the price? The standard here varies a bit according to the type of site – for example, a solo-girl site can get away with having much less content than a mega-video site.

Originality:

Is this the same stuff you’ve seen all over the net? This isn’t just about whether the content is exclusive to the site, but also about whether the site’s concept is unique and interesting.

In addition to the above criteria, we also measure the site’s ‘hotness’ using our review panel. Since people have different tastes, each site is looked at by at least three reviewers, who will tell if they find the appealing or not. Each reviewer provides his or her comments, as well as hotness and confidence scores. The hotness gives an indication of how much of a turn-on the reviewer found the site, while the confidence rating shows whether the reviewer would expect to be turned on by such a site or not. For example, KJ, who is a lesbian, isn’t really into bukkake sites, so she would give her rating of such a site a very low confidence score, to let you know that although she hated it, the site may still be perfectly OK, she just has no way to tell if it’s good bukkake or bad bukkake...

The average Hotness scores of all the reviewers, weighted by their Confidence ratings is used as the overall Hotness grade of the site. The overall grade is computed from the Quality, Quantity, Hotness, Originality and Interface grades.
