About The Porn Review Panel

Welcome!

Hi, and welcome to The Porn Review Panel. We review porn sites, and help you avoid the crap and find your way to Good Internet Porn.

Every person’s tastes are a bit different. That’s why we’ve gone a step beyond other review sites and introduce The Panel – six experienced porn surfers with very different views on what’s hot and what’s not. All sites are examined by at least three reviewers from the panel – in most cases all six – and they each rate the site’s Hotness according their own taste. Additionally, one reviewer will take a closer look, and rate the site according to our criteria and grading system, so you know what to expect in terms of quality, quantity, usability, etc.

What we do...

We review porn sites on the Internet. Plain and simple!

How it works...

We have a panel of six reviewers; three guys and three gals. To ensure that all sites get a fair reviewing, and to provide you with a broader variety of viewpoints, all sites are reviewed by at least three and in most cases all reviewers. One of the reviewers (normally one who has an interest in that particular type of site) does a thorough review, examining content quality and quantity, design and interface friendliness and concept/content originality, and writes up a description of the site and what you can expect from it. Then the review panelists watch some of the site’s content and rate and comment on its hotness. The panelists’ views are included in the final review, to help you decide whether a site has the stuff that really turns you on. You can read more about this on our Grading System page.

Who are the reviewers?

See our separate page with info about the review panel. We have three female and three male reviewers. Of the female reviewers, one is a straight woman, one is bi, and one is gay. Of the men, two are straight and one is bisexual. We have endeavoured to put together a panel of people with varied interests in order to give fair coverage to a broad range of sites.

Will you have gay [male] porn reviews?

At the moment, we’re only doing reviews of straight and lesbian porn.

What’s this ‘confidence’ stuff?

It basically tells you to what degree a reviewer has an opinion about a site. People are different; for example, you can’t expect someone with no interest in lesbian porn to give a fair and useful account of how hot and interesting a lesbian porn site is. Hotness ratings with a low confidence count less than those with a high confidence, so the overall rating won’t be unduly influenced by those who have no interest in a given type of porn.

What’s the difference between a Full Review, a Short Review and a Quickie?

In Full Reviews, the site has been examined in detail by one of our reviewers and the content hotness has been rated by The Panel. In a Short Review, some (or all) of The Panel have watched a bit of the members area content, and had a quick look at the site, but not enough to warrant a detailed description, and scoring may not be available for all the criteria.

A Quickie contains a summary of the most important information, such as pricing, category and a brief description. The site hasn’t been reviewed by the panel, but it may have some grades set, for example if it shares interface with one of the sites we have reviewed properly. Typically, there will be no Hotness score, since that requires a bit of in-depth study.

Is it safe to buy / subscribe to porn on the Internet?

We’ve subscribed to quite a lot of porn sites over the years, and we’ve never had any trouble with credit card fraud or anything else. You should still be careful, though – look for the little padlock icon that tells that your connection is encrypted before entering credit card data; don’t answer mails or phone calls asking for your CC data or bank account information. If possible, pay with a credit card rather than a debit card or check, since you’ll have an opportunity to review the bill before paying. You can complain to the credit card company if you believe you’re a victim of fraud, and they’ll normally give you your money back (though, don’t do this if you’re just trying to get out of paying for porn – that’s credit card fraud, and it’s a serious offence – even if you’re lucky and avoid police trouble, you may have trouble signing up with that credit card in the future).

Some sites gives you the option to pay by online check (in the US), or by phone or SMS message, in case you don’t have a credit card or don’t want to use it online.

As always, be sure to use a firewall, and anti-virus / spyware protection, and be careful when downloading software, toolbars and screensavers.
